Wildlings Book Club: Boss of the Underworld

Join us for the next Wildlings Book Club! We'll be reading our new favorite graphic novel: Boss of the Underworld, by Tor Freeman!

Sign up here!

NOTE: All books will be ordered upon sign-up and will arrive in the shop within a few days! We will let you know when your book is available for pick-up!

This book is like a funny-weird-charming Odyssey-like quest for Shirley, who falls down a manhole and has to save the underworld from the Green Menace.  There are quirky characters (can’t forget George the cockroach!), Sewer Sirens, Sphinxes, the Bog of Sudden Intense Emotions, sketchy forests and sewer mazes, and an ending I did not see coming!

Cost includes:
Book (paperback)
Ice Cream from Wilson’s
Underworld themed activity / craft

This book club is for kids ages 8+!

Honey

Imani Thompson

Publisher: Random House April 1 2026

EAN: 978059397976 1ISBN: 0593979761

Synopsis:A dark, provocative, adrenaline-rush of a novel about a graduate student who murders bad men and justifies it in the name of feminism, by a bold new voice in fiction"Might be the most-anticipated debut novel of the year thanks in part to its perfect-for-Hollywood premise."--Esquire

"A darkly comic novel about the tricky politics of race, sex, violence and love . . . the entertaining (and quietly damning) read you'll need to kick off spring."--Elle

A Most Anticipated Book of the Year: Glamour, Debutiful, Book Riot, Esquire, SheReads, Elle, Stylist She just wants to know what justice feels like.

Yrsa is bored: bored with her PhD program, her entitled students, and the never-ending pages of racial violence and feminist theory she has to read. But most of all, she's bored with the men in her life--especially the bad ones.

And then, one sunny afternoon, she accidentally kills one.

Suddenly a problematic professor is dead, and Yrsa, well--she's no longer bored.

Emboldened, she starts to chase the high, and soon no misbehaving sexist man within commuting distance is safe.

Finally Yrsa's academic research feels useful. But how long can killing in the name of feminist and racial solidarity justify her actions? And how long until her actions--and buried family secrets--come back to unravel her?

Tulip Poplars

Silas House

Publisher: Algonquin Books October 1 2026 EAN: 9781643756974 ISBN: 1643756974 Synopsis: Amos and Tom fall in love while working in the tobacco fields during the hot summers of the early 1900s, but it will be decades before they can truly be together. Tom cannot shake the strict religious code he was raised by nor the responsibilities of his family's farm, and he ultimately marries his longtime friend Maeve; while Amos goes to New York City to find the anonymity required to live his life openly. And though Maeve pines for Paschal rather than Tom, the strict Jim Crow laws prevent her and Paschal from being together. The Tulip Poplars is a sweeping novel--intimate in its storytelling and epic in its scope--spanning most of the 20th century, centering on four people trying to find happiness in a world that demands conventional choices. It is an examination of faith and doubt, race and class, and desire--not just sexual desire, but also the longing to be good when the whole world is telling you are evil for loving who you love. Deeply moving and based on the story of an ancestor, as well as the history of the small Kentucky towns he knows so well, House's new novel will leave you with a bigger heart.

The Book:

National Bestseller • A New York TimesBook Review Book Club Pick • A New York Times Notable Book • Indies Choice Awards Finalist • Named a Best Book of the Year by NPR, TIME and Kirkus ReviewsThe Crucible meets The VirginSuicidesin this haunting debut about five sisters in a small village in eighteenth-century England whose neighbors are convinced they’re turning into dogs. ONE OF PEOPLES, APPLE BOOKS, AND AMAZONS BEST BOOKS OF AUGUST 2025“A wildly inventive riff on the Gothic form, with enough suspense and mounting dread to rival Shirley Jackson’s ‘The Lottery.’”—The New York TimesEven before the rumors about the Mansfield girls begin, Little Nettlebed is a village steeped in the uncanny, from strange creatures that wash up on the riverbank to portentous ravens gathering on the roofs of people about to die. But when the villagers start to hear barking, and one claims to see the Mansfield sisters transform before his very eyes, the allegations spark fascination and fear like nothing has before. The truth is that though the inhabitants of Little Nettlebed have never much liked the Mansfield girls—a little odd, think some; a little high on themselves, perhaps—they’ve always had plenty to say about them. As the rotating perspectives of five villagers quickly make clear, now is no exception. Even if local belief in witchcraft is waning, an aversion to difference is as widespread as ever, and these conflicting narratives all point to the same ultimate conclusion: Something isn’t right in Little Nettlebed, and the sisters will be the ones to pay for it.A richly atmospheric parable of the pleasures and perils of female defiance, The Houndingconsiders whether in any age it might be safer to be a dog than an unusual young girl.
